JUNE 8 - The Ormsgill slag bank is a huge recovered mound of industrial waste produced by the Barrow Hematite Steel Company 1859-1963 - at one time the largest steel company in the world. Now reclaimed and re-vegetated and with patches of Kidney Vetch, the Small Blue has been recently introduced here by Butterfly Conservation. Today, several were seen in local favourable spots.
